The bill would allow people to use local pharmacies rather than mail order prescription plans required by some insurance companies.
The pharmacists at Tuesday’s gathering say they offer personal service in the local communities and are worried about their own job security which is threatened by bigger, nationwide companies.
They say they want large companies to have to regulate pharmacy benefits managers otherwise known as PBM’s.
Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students met with local lawmakers to discuss what can be done to pass these bills.
