It was a solid Blue White game for many Penn State players, including Warwick grad, Deron Thompson.  The Lancaster County running back had 97 yards on 12 carries.

“Definitely for a local kid, its always a dream come true to be out here at Beaver Stadium and doing your thing.  Its a spring game but its still a lot of fun.”

This guy was having fun too, redshirt freshman Akeel Lynch.  He showed off his speed and toughness.  Right now, he sits behind Bill Belton and Zach Swinak on the depth chart and he won’t tell Coach O’Brien, who should be the starter at running back.

“No, not at all.  We just talk to Coach BOB and decides what to do. You can’t really tell him what to do.”

Bill O’Brien, PSU Head Coach

“I thought he ran hard, I thought he really did.  I have to go back and watch the tape but I thought he ran hard being down there on field level.”

There’s still no clarity on the quarterback situation.  O’Brien says, there’s no rush to name a starter in the race that features Tyler Ferguson, Steven Bench and incoming freshman Christian Hackenberg.

“We’re a long way off from that but its a decision that has to be made at some point in time but not today.”

Penn State kicks off their season with training camp in August and they kick off the season, August 31st against Syracuse at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.
