PennDOT District 8 announced today that saw cutting and roadway base repair work begins May 1, weather permitting, on a 1.14-mile section of Route 394 in Biglerville Borough and Butler Township, Adams County. This section of Route 394, locally known as Hanover Street, averages 2,100 vehicles traveled daily.
The $1,142,876 contract was awarded to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc., of New Enterprise, Bedford County, and includes curb cut work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, roadway base repair, drainage work, milling and resurfacing.

PennDOT advises travelers that starting May 1 they may encounter single-lane traffic and parking restrictions with flaggers assisting them through the work zone on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. as crews repair the following roads in preparation for resurfacing this summer: Route 394 in Biglerville and Butler Township; Hanover Street in New Oxford from the borough line to the traffic circle at U.S. Route 30; Carlisle Street in New Oxford from the traffic circle at U.S. Route 30 to just north of Drummer Drive in Oxford Township; and Berlin Road in New Oxford from the intersection with Carlisle Street to just south of Billerbeck Street in Oxford Township.

Motorists are advised to be alert for this operation, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.

Curb cut work under this construction contract began last fall and resurfacing is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.
