In his years working as the Lancaster Coroner, Dr. Stephen Diamantoni has never had to deal with this type of case before.

“This is the first time this has occurred,” says Dr. Diamanroni, “I have been the coroner for over five years and this is the first fetus we have found at a high school.”

A McCaskey East janitor discovered a male fetus in a garbage can in a girls bathroom around 10 o’clock on Tuesday night.

Police determined the fetus belonged to LaFleur of Lancaster who was a student at the high school. The fetus was about 27 weeks along, the coroner says the baby being born outside a hospital didn’t help its chance to live.

“The situations that are not ideal,” says Dr. Diamantoni, “babies that are born outside the hospital without benefit of trade personal, the prognosis for those kids are very grave.”

LaFleur has been charged with Concealing the Death of a Child, her bail is set for one million dollars.
