The 17 year old suspect wanted in connection with fatal shooting in Harrisburg over the weekend surrenders to police. A warrant was issued on Monday for Jovan Vasquez-Cassell. Police say he fired the shots that killed 27 year old Thornton Vaughan. The shooting happened just before 11 o’clock Saturday night near a bar in the 1400 block of Market Street. It was the city’s 7th homicide of the year. Detectives said that Vasquez-Cassell had family in York and Harrisburg. They urged his family to persuade Vasquez-Cassell to turn himself in.
Vasquez-Cassell is charged with one count of Criminal Homicide and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. He was arraigned at Central Booking in downtown Harrisburg.
