Charges are pending against a man who was struck by a vehicle after he ran into traffic along Interstate 83 in Swatara Township on Monday during foot pursuit with police. Jalani D. Martin, 18, of Steelton, will be charged with escape, eluding police, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, harassment and stalking.
Initially, officers were called to the Macy’s at the Harrisburg Mall for a report that Martin was harassing store employees, according to police reports. Martin fled the store, across Paxton Street, down an embankment and onto the highway in an effort to escape from police.
Martin was hit by a southbound vehicle and was taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.
Police say charges will be filed later today.
