York county firefighters were out Sunday, collecting money for the family of late Loganville Fire Chief Rodney Miller. The chief was killed by a suspected drunk driver on April 27th. He was struck and killed while directing traffic at a crash on Interstate 83.
On Sunday, his fellow firefighters held a Boot Drive, where they collected money from drivers passing by. Everything collected will be given to the Miller family to help ease the financial burden.
“It gives the guys a lot of closure to get out here, a lot of the guys here were the ones down there that evening when Rodney was killed, so it means a lot to them, it gets them out and a good response from the community helps everybody out,” says Josh Stifler, Asst. Chief with the Goodwill Fire Co.
More than a thousand people turned out for Chief Miller’s funeral at Grace Fellowship Church.
