Police in Baltimore County say a cargo train veered off the tracks near an industrial park.

The cargo train carrying acid used for plastic derailed around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, in Rosedale.

Officials say the air is safe and chemicals currently burning are not toxic.  The train flipped over and then blew up.

The Baltimore Sun reports the train did not make contact with the buildings that surround the 7500 block of Lake Drive.  But fire officials say several buildings have collapsed as a result of the explosion.

US Route 40 shut down and residents coming home from work were not allowed into the neighborhood.  People within a 20-block area around the derailment were told to stay in their homes.  Baltimore County officials say a truck driver is the only person injured.  There is no word on how the trailer truck was involved.
