The York Water Company is seeking a rate hike totaling more than $7 million.  The company is asking the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission for a $7.1 million increase in annual water revenues and a $27,960 increase in annual waste water revenues.

President Jeffrey Hines, says the proposed hike will cover approximately $49 million in capital investments the company has made since its 2010 rate filing.  Those investments are expected to continue through February 2015.

The additional money would be used to reinforce, replace, and reline aging water mains, provide redundancy for both water and waste water systems in case of emergencies; increase water quality; operational efficiency upgrades; and for replacements and upgrades of other infrastructure, including York Water’s water supply dams.
