Police in Lebanon County cite nine motorists for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian at a marked crosswalk.  Palmyra Borough Police setup a safety detail for two hours Friday morning at the marked crosswalk at West Cherry and South Locust Street.  A similar safety detail was conducted over a two hour period at a marked crosswalk at South Forge and East Walnut Streets.

Nine drivers were cited to yield the right of way and one driver was cited for Failure to Obey a School Crossing Guard that was attempting to stop traffic at the Forge Road Elementary School.

According to state law, drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians that are within any “marked” or “unmarked” crosswalk at an intersection.  Violation of the law is a summary offense with a fine upon conviction of $50, plus costs of $87.00 for a total of $137.00.
