It’s the 40th Annual Street Rod Nationals this weekend in York. The popular car show kicked off Friday with a Street Rod Parade and car show at the York Expo Center. The York Expo Center also has vendors, an old car swap meet, food, arts and craft and even live music.

“We’ve been coming here 28 years. Street rodding is in our blood,” said Street Rod owner Artie Van Pelt from New Jersey.

Another popular tradition is sitting around town and watching the street rods. “Oh it’s an adrenaline rush. Really good rush. Especially when they get a little loud, it’s really nice,” said Larry Lohss of Dover.

He has been bringing his family for 12 years. “12 years, me, my wife, my kids, friends, we come out and get spots. Everybody comes out. They wait for this every year,” said Lohss. He goes to the fairgrounds the entire weekend, and he sits along Route 30 the whole time too.

“The kids are out there with their signs, and we’re blowing our horns and waving to them. It’s great, it’s really nice to see the people come out and want to see us. 10
