Police are asking the public for help in locating a man who held up the Union Community Bank in West Hempfield Township on Tuesday morning. The man, seen in surveillance video, entered the bank located along the first block of South 18th Street around 9:20 a.m. and handed the bank teller a note demanding cash. Police say he was armed with a gun.
After getting an undisclosed amount of money, he left the bank and was seen getting into a small silver sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra with partial registration of “YZW”.
A white female was driving and there was possibly another person in the vehicle with them, investigators said.
Police believe the same suspects were involved in earlier robberies in the township and Lancaster City.
West Hempfield Police are being assisted by Columbia Borough Police, the Lancaster City Criminal Investigative Unit and FBI.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-285-5191 or 1-800-957-2677.
