A police officer was injured after being bitten by a stray dog while preventing another person from being attacked in Dauphin County.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. on Friday along Continental Drive in Susquehanna Township.   The officer is back on duty after being treated and released.

Police believe the stray dog came from the Silver Leaf Ridge area in Waverly Woods.

The dog is a male, black and white, possible boarder collie mix with a red collar and no tags. Police are trying to identify the owner to let them know the dog is at the Humane Society.

Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact police at 717-652-8265.

You don't hear of border collies attacking people much.

Glad to hear that it was not deemed necessary by anyone to kill the dog.
