Derry Township police are trying to find who was driving a “suspect vehicle” earlier this week as they investigate the murder of an elderly woman, according to a news release.

Joyce Roth, 87, died of a stab wound to her chest during an apparent burglary on Byron Road on June 10th. She’s from Allentown and was visiting family for a graduation.

The vehicle is a blue Chevy S-10 pickup with a blue cap.

Authorities ask anyone who may have seen the vehicle Sunday or Monday to contact Derry Township Police at (717) 534-2202.

“We do not believe at this point in time that it was a random event. We believe that there was some connection, and we’re trying to flesh that out,” said Ed Marisco, Dauphin County district attorney.

Marsico declined to say what the connection is between the killer and the home.

He said it’s unlikely the person involved would commit a similar crime again.  “At this point in time, we believe that that individual is not a threat to anyone in the community,” said Marsico. He declined to say if investigators believe the killer is still in the area or the state.

According to Roth’s obituary, her funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown.
