More than 500 dogs from 12 different states are gathering to compete in the sport of Flyball this weekend.
The dogs work in groups of four in the Coconut Classic at the York Fairgrounds in West Manchester Township.
Flyball is a relay race where dogs must clear hurdles to reach a box where they trigger the release of a ball. They then carry that ball back over the hurdles. The fastest team wins.
More than 80 teams of all breeds took part in the fast paced sport.
Julie Jenkins, whose dog is competing says, “We enjoy bonding with the dogs and their teammates. We also enjoy that it’s a race and being competitive and trying to win and go fast.”
This is the 10th year for the Flyball Tournament in York County.
