A century old iconic staple to downtown York closed its doors this afternoon.
Mail from the 102-year-old post office on South George Street will now go to an office just a fraction of that size on West Market Street.
York’s Postmaster says offices around the U.S. are downsizing to save money.
But says the new size will not hinder mail delivery in any way.
Post workers spent the afternoon hauling equipment and mail to the new office which is set to open Monday morning at 7:30.
