A police incident forces Gettysburg officials to cancel tonight’s scheduled Independence Day Parade.  The incident began late Wednesday afternoon, when police spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Tuesday.  When officers attemtped to stop the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Two people were in the vehicle, an adult male and a juvenile male. The driver lost control of the vehicle in the 200 block of Highland Avenue, left the roadway and slammed into the side of a home.

A woman inside the home was injured and taken to a local hospital.  The driver was captured near the home.  Pennsylvania State Police, Cumberland Township and Gettysburg Police along with other police launched a massive search for the juvenile.  He was captured a short time later without incident.

The investigation into the incident continues.
