A broken water main has prompted officials to issue a boil water advisory for people living in Steelton Borough.

The borough’s mayor, Tom Acri, said the advisory was issued on Saturday night after a water main broke along the 100 block of South Second Street around 7:30 p.m.

Residents should boil their water for at least one minute before drinking it or using it for food preparation.

Mayor Acri expects the advisory will in effect until Wednesday.
