A Chambersburg man was arrested for assault after he allegedly attacked a man in the parking lot of a hardware store in Franklin County on Saturday. It happened around 5:15 p.m. at the Lowe’s Home Improvement Center along the 1600 block of Lincoln Way East in Guilford Township.

Alonzo John Weeks, 29, is accused of  punching a 66-year-old man from Reading in the face– causing him to lose consciousness.

State police say the victim collapsed and struck his head on the concrete pavement.

The victim sustained severe head trauma and was flown to the York Trauma Center.

Troopers did not disclose what prompted the attack.

Weeks is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault. .

He was taken to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16.
