Job seeking veterans hope for hire at employment fair.

Navy Veteran, Daniel Peterson is now an unemployed graduate of Shippensburg University.

“I would like to get into network administration, either database programming or general administration stuff,” says Peterson.

Hoping for a hire, Peterson visits the “Hiring Our Heroes” job fair at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.

He says, “I think it’s hard for people to readjust to society something and I think places like this make it a lot easier for them.”

According to the U.S. Labor Department, 7% of our veterans were unemployed in 2012.

Emily Munoz is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  She helped organize the job fair.

Munoz says, “We expect people to volunteer to raise their right hand and serve our country and we feel they should have an opportunity after they take their uniform off to find something that fives them that sense of purpose.”

The job fair features 90 employers who are looking to recruit, plus a workshop to provide job seekers with the necessary tools needed in civilian life.

Munoz says, “Preparing themselves for a lifetime of successful job seeking and becoming leaders in whatever company they’d become a part of.”

Opportunities for Vets like Peterson, on American soil.
