Family, friends and co-workers of Steve Hartdegen marked the occasion during a ceremony at the Lower Paxton Post Office on Tuesday morning. He began his federal service in 1963 by serving in the U.S. Air Force.

He joined the post office in 1967, working as a mail distribution clerk then a letter carrier. Hartdegen says he gets emotional looking back on the relationships he has made on his route.

Hartdegen says after serving more than half of his like at the same post office, he has no desire to retire anytime soon.
