BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Missing 5 Year Old Girl Found

UPDATE:  This is the latest from the Manheim Township Police Department regarding the abduction of a 5-year-old girl along the 100 block of Jennings Drive in Lancaster Township.

Police were dispatched for a missing 5-year-old female.  She had been outside playing when he mother was unable to find her.  All surrounding police agencies were advised and a search of the area was initiated by police and K-9 units.  Fire department personnel responded to join in the search.

At 1848 hours, two teenage boys, who were on bicycles and looking for the girl, spotted a maroon or burgundy colored sedan, possibly a Chevy with round tail lights driven by a male approx 50-70 years of age, on Betz Farm Lane.  They noticed a girl matching the description of the missing girl in the vehicle so they began to follow the vehicle.  The vehicle stopped in the 1700 block of Betz Farm Lane, and the girl got out of the vehicle.  The vehicle drove off just as search personnel arrived in the area.  This was confirmed to be the missing child and she appeared unharmed.

She has been taken to an area hospital for evaluation.  Manheim Township Police were assisted in the search by Millersville Police, F&M Public Safety, PA State Police, Lancaster Twp Fire Co., Millersville Fire Co., Pequea Twp Fire Co, LEMSA and Red Rose K-9 Search and Rescue.  Anyone with information related to this incident should contact MTPD at 569-6401 or on our tip line at 569-2816.
