A five-year-old girl is safe with her family after police in Lancaster County say someone abducted her from outside of a Lancaster Township apartment.

Police remain on high alert and are still looking for the kidnapper.

Tight hugs and sighs of relief from family and neighbors after searchers found the girl just before 7 p.m. She was reported missing just before 5 p.m. from an apartment in the Lancaster Arms complex on the 100 block of Jennings Drive.

“There’s no words to say, I’m so grateful,” said Tracey ****, the girl’s grandmother. “It’s just, something you don’t wish on anybody. Horrible, horrible thoughts flash through my mind.”

But fear soon turned to joy. The girl’s family said it’s partly due to Temar Boggs. The 15 year old and a friend joined more than 100 first responders in searching for the girl.

When they spotted her in the passenger’s seat of a man’s car, they immediately gave chase on their bikes.

“Soon as the guy noticed that we were chasing him,  he stopped and dropped her at the end of the hill and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom,” Boggs said.

The girl and her mother immediately went to the hospital so that doctors could check her out.

Manheim Township Police Sgt. Jeff Jones said now the focus is on finding her abductor.

“We’ve certainly all heard of worse stories, with not so happy endings, but this would be a much more happy ending if we found the person responsible,” Sgt. Jones said.

Police do not have a good description of the suspect just yet, but say he may be driving a maroon or purple sedan, possibly a Chevy Impala, with round tail lights.

Anyone with information related to this incident should contact Manheim Township police at 569-6401 or the department’s tip line at 569-2816.
