Shope

A man is arrested and another is being sought in connection with a vehicle theft in York County.

Mark Anthony Shope Jr., 30, of Wrightsville, is charged with receiving stolen property of a motor vehicle. Shope was arrested Monday by officers investigating a string of vehicle break-ins in Shrewsbury Borough.

Police were dispatched to the area of Glenhurst and Berkshire Drive for a report of suspicious men looking into parked vehicles. When investigators arrived at the scene they found Shope with a vehicle that was reported stolen from Hellam Township on June 19. A second suspect fled on foot.

Shope was taken into custody at the scene and officers seized the stolen car.

Police believe Shope and the other suspect could be tied to several vehicle break-ins that occurred in the area that same day.

Shope was arraigned and taken to York County Prison on $85,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 25.
