The first same-sex couple wed in the state of Pennsylvania today. The two women married in a religious ceremony in Norristown. A 1996 Pennsylvania law defines marriage as a civil contract between a man and a woman, but officials in Montgomery County issued a license anyway. The county chairman says marriage equality will come to Pennsylvania, it’s just a matter of time, and he wants to be on the ‘right side of the law’. At least five same-sex couples have been issued marriage licenses.
