Police investigate possible child luring in North Middleton Township

Authorities are investigating a possible child luring incident that happened in Cumberland County on August 4.  According to police reports, two girls, ages 12 and 15, were walking along Pheasant Drive North at Douglas Drive when a man driving a white SUV pulled up beside them and tried to engage them in conversation.

During the conversation, the man  tried to lure the girls inside the vehicle, police said.

Frightened, the girls ran home to their parents and told them what happened. The parents went out into the neighborhood to track down the vehicle on their own, but were unsuccessful.

About a week later, on Aug. 11, the girls told their parents they had just seen the same car driving slowly through the neighborhood. The girls said the driver appeared to be very interested in  the children in the area, police said.

A day later, the parents contacted police.

The driver is described as a white male with a heavy build, bald and has a goatee. Police are looking for a white SUV, possible a Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-243-7910.
