A Lebanon County Police Officer who is getting a lot of attention for rescuing a German Sheppard is now starting a K-9 unit for his department. This picture of Officer Nick Ague of the South Londonderry Township Police Department carrying this pup Mya to safety has gone viral. It got thousands of likes on Facebook, and has appeared on sites like the Huffington post and Yahoo’s homepage.

He has been asking permission to start fundraising for a K-9 unit since last year, and last week he got the go ahead from the township.

“ It means everything to me it’s something that I always had an ambition to do I’ve always wanted to be a police officer and I’ve always loved dogs and it’s something I’ve always wanted so it’s a dream come true,” says Ague

The department has raised $4,000 but needs about $18,000 to get started. Ague says the response has been overwhelming.

If you’d like to donate the department is asking to please send your donation to South Londonderry Township Police Department, P.O. Box 3, Campbelltown, PA 17010. Please memo your donation “K-9 Fund.”
