It was a very violent night for neighbors in York city. A bar at the intersection of Broad and Walnut streets turned into a fatal crime scene Saturday night. It was one of three separate shootings that night — triggering neighbors’ questions about their safety.

The first shooting on South Penn Street took place just before midnight. York Police say Detrel Rice, of York, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hip.

A couple of hours later, 25-year-old Jaime Sanabria was shot and killed in what police are calling an altercation at George’s Tavern. Then, around 6 a.m., police responded to a house on King Street, where police say Bridgette Samuel shot her boyfriend, Tristan Hughes, in the leg. According to police, Bridgette is charged with attempted homicide in connection with the shooting.

Sunday night, a number of candles were set up on the sidewalk just outside George’s Tavern to memorialize Sanabria.

The two people who were injured are expected to be okay, but police are still trying to solve the homicide. If you have any information, call York Police at (717) 846-1234.
