A Newville man is charged with pointing his shotgun at a volunteer fireman. Police say Wade Bear, 19, and Michael Wolf, 22, both of Newville, pulled off of Roxbury Road around 10:30pm Wednesday so that Bear could use his cell phone. A resident, Rodney Haubert, 50, came out of his residence and confronted the two men with a shotgun and a camera. Haubert began taking pictures of Bear’s vehicle.
Bear got out of the car and asked Haubert why he was taking pictures. Haubert stated that Bear and Wolf were on private property and then pointed the shotgun at Bear. Bear told Haubert to put the gun down and that he was going to contact police. Haubert walked back to his residence, and while in the area of the porch, Haubert discharged his shotgun.
Nobody was injured and Bear’s vehicle was not struck.
Troopers responded to the residence and took Haubert into custody without incident and he was taken to Cumberland County Prison.
Charges of Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Harassment were filed at Magisterial District Court 09-3-02.
Bear and Wolf are both volunteer fireman.
