PennDOT crews expect to work throughout the night to repair two sinkholes in the westbound lane of Route 30 in York County. The first sinkhole was reported at about 3:50 Thursday afternoon in the roadway near the Shoe House road overpass in Hellam Township. Once repair crews arrived on the scene and began digging, a second sinkhole was discovered.
A PennDOT spokesman says the sinkholes are about 15 feet deep and may become deeper. Repair work isn’t expected to be completed until sometime Friday afternoon. In the meantime westbound traffic is reduced to one lane.
