State police in Franklin County are investigating a murder suicide.
It’s believed that 60-year-old Gordon Brown shot his wife, 40-year-old Kelley Brown before turning the gun on himself.
Police responded to a home on Allen Drive early Sunday morning after reports of a possible shooting.
Brett and Kyle Myers found out from their pastor that Gordon had shot Kelley, then himself.
“It almost seems like it hasn’t quite sunk in yet,” says Brett Myers.
The entire neighborhood is in shock.
A neighbor across the street was on his way to talk with investigators when we spoke with him.
He answered the door with tears in his eyes.
The Myers’ say the couple was the type who would throw BBQ’s and pool parties and wave to everyone who drove by.
“Great people. You never would’ve thought even knowing them as long as we have you never would’ve thought anything like that was going on,” says Brett Myers.
The Myers’ say their nieces and nephews used to play with the couple’s children in the backyard.
They say their biggest worry now is for their kids.
“It’s just mainly about the kids how I feel about them. They’re innocent kids, they don’t deserve that,” says Kyle Myers.
Kyle says the kids are 9 and 11 years old.
They weren’t home at the time of the shooting, and they’re thankful for that.
But they’re heartbroken along with the rest of the neighborhood.
