Newfoundland water dogs put their life saving abilities to the test this weekend during their certification testing. The testing at Codorus State Park in York County happening all throughout the weekend with different events each day. Each dog demonstrated their ability to rescue swimmers through training that involved rescuing a victim trapped beneath a sinking boat, pulling multiple stranded swimmers from the water, as well as finding and returning an abandoned boat to shore. The pups also had to show stamina and strength by towing a boat filled with passengers to the coastline. There are three different levels of rescue dogs and each dog was placed in a category based on their overall performance.
