The York County man charged with kidnapping his girlfriend’s 7 month-old boy from Upper Darby Township is now being charged with the baby’s murder. According to online court documents, Ummad Rushdi is being charged with Criminal Homicide, First, Second and Third Degree Murder.
Police have been searching for weeks in York and Lancaster Counties for the body of little Hamza Ali, taken from his mother on August 4th.
Police learned that Rushdi, a resident of Windsor Township, had driven to York County and that he had told his brother Jawwad Rushdi, that he, Ummad, had killed the child. Jawwad Rushdi also said his brother told him that he had buried the child’s body. A car that Rushdi was driving became stuck in mud near Route 30 and Route 441 in Columbia. A shovel and a carseat were found in the trunk of the car.
Those details were revealed in a Search Warrant Probable Cause Affidavit filed by police in Upper Darby Township.
