The challenges faced by teachers in Urban Schools go far beyond new technologies and techniques in the classroom.
Pedro Rivera knows the unique challenges faced by city schools…
He’s been the superintendent for the Lancaster School District since 2008.
Today, he spoke at Franklin and Marshall College about how districts need to address the needs and realities of new students.
“We are now preparing students with a background that never existed when we were kids. We are now dealing with social, behavioral, physical and emotional issues that were never even in the spectrum or on the radar when we were kids,” Rivera said.
He also discussed some of his initiatives, including teacher observation tools and new curriculum.
