Injured Lancaster Firefighter gets warm welcome home

A Lancaster firefighter, who was injured in the line of duty last February, made a special appearance Saturday night.
Lieutenant Andre Kelley was given a warm welcome at the Lancaster Barnstormers game at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Lt. Kelley suffered burns over 40-percent of his body while trying to rescue two people trapped in a burning building on Madison Street on February 18th. A woman and young girl died in the fire.
In a ceremony before the 7th inning, Lt. Kelley took a seat that has been saved for him by the team since his injury.
He spent several months in the hospital and in rehab recovering from his burns. Fellow firefighters were on hand to welcome him back.
“They don’t get to see him like I do. For them to see him and say welcome, we love you, community support is just tremendous. On the eve of 9/11, I mean it all comes into play so it couldn’t have been better, perfect timing,” says Dennis Perry, Lt. Kelley’s uncle.
Saturday was Community Heroes Day at the stadium.
Lt. Kelley’s family says he is still receiving treatment and hopes to return to work soon.
