Motorcyclist dies after head-on crash in Peters Township

A motorcyclist died after his bike collided head-on with a SUV in Franklin County on Friday afternoon. It happened around 3:20 p.m. along the 13000 block of Dickeys Road in Peters Township.

Police said a motorcycle driven  John Kevin Lynch, of  Mercersburg, was headed north on Dickey’s Road when he attempted to pass a vehicle driving in his lane.

As Lynch went around the vehicle, he collided head-on with a southbound SUV, according to police reports.

Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

    Was the person on the motorcycle wearing a seat belt. Probably not. People just won't
    listen. Wear a seat belt.

    This is one instance where helmets aren't an issue.
    Was the biker passing in a legal passing zone or being a hotshot?
