Autopsy results have been released following the death of an 8-year-old boy who was shot in the head by his younger brother in Shippensburg on Sept. 1.
The boys death is being ruled a homicide, Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall said.
The 8-year-old died Friday– a day after he was pronounced brain dead at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
The boy’s mother told police she kept loaded guns next to the bed where she slept and was asleep at the time of the shooting.
According to court records, the home where the children stayed was covered in filth and “unfit for children.”
State police and the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office continue to investigate the incident.
