Working throughout the day, police arrest a suspect in an armed robbery and stabbing at a Cumberland County gas station. They say Anthony G Simmons, 27, of Duncannon walked into the Gulf station along the 1200 block of Harrisburg Pike, in Middlesex Township at around 10:00 this morning. He jumped the counter and demanded money.
After he allegedly stabbed the clerk in the neck, Simmons was unable to get the register open and ran way with no money. The clerk managed to get into a back room where he locked himself in and called 911. The victim suffered a neck wound, the knife just missed vital arteries and organs.
Simmons was located at his residence in Perry County and taken into custody without incident. Police are trying to determine if Simmons acted alone or not.
He faces charges that include Strong-arm Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Attempt to commit Homicide, and Criminal Attempt to commit Larceny.
