Official York Bike Night Press Release:

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. and The City of York will present the 19th annual York Bike Night on Friday, September 20, 2013, from 6 to 10 p.m. in downtown York. The street party features a 2,000-motorcycle parade, food and merchandise vendors, live entertainment, and informational booths. The event is held in conjunction with the annual Harley-Davidson open house weekend.

Parade participants, led by a group of vintage motorcycles, will leave the York Expo Center at 6 p.m., traveling east on Market Street to Broad Street, and then travel back to the Continental Square area.

Representatives of Harley-Davidson, the York County Harley-Davidson Owners Association, Columbia Gas, Motor Maids, and the Christian Motorcycle Association will also help lead the parade.

Following the parade, which is sponsored by Shipley Energy, a dozen vintage motorcycles will be on display in a special viewing area in the first block of North George Street. Attendees may vote for their favorite custom bike, via monetary donation, and the winner will receive a People’s Choice Award trophy. Funds raised will benefit York City Special Events. Shipley Energy is proud to support the fun tradition of the Bike Night Parade in downtown York.

NEW/Special to Bike Night this year: Thanks to a partnership with Columbia Gas, the “811 Bike” will be displayed on the northwest corner of Continental Square during Bike Night. One Call Concepts, Inc. commissioned Paul Junior Designs to build the 811 Bike to help promote awareness of the importance of preventing damage to underground facilities. More info can be found at: http://www.occinc.com/about/bike. The mission of the 811 Bike is to spread awareness about Dig Safety and the importance of calling ‘811’ before you do any sort of digging. Whether you’re a professional excavator or a homeowner planting a tree: Know What’s Below – Call Before You Dig! Columbia Gas will be on hand with giveaway items throughout the evening.

Musical entertainment, sponsored by Dale E. Anstine, will be provided 6:45 to 9:45 p.m. by Smokin Gunnz, Dr. Slothclaw, Local Corn, and Kayla Kroh. Visual Comedian Pete Geist, sponsored by M&T Bank, will roam around Continental Square throughout the event.

MediaOnePA, 96.1 SOX and FOX43 are media sponsors for the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Pets and bicycles are prohibited within York City Special Event areas, and York City Police will be enforcing the ordinance.
