United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force announced Friday they arrested 24-year-old Austin L. Poole in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County.
In 2013, it is alleged Poole committed sexual offenses against a seven-year old child in El Paso County, Texas. On September 4, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued in Texas charging Poole with sexual abuse of a child.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Swatara Township Police Department, who in turn requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Information was developed on the possible whereabouts of Poole in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County.
During the afternoon hours of September 20, U.S. Marshals Service task force personnel arrested Poole in the Capital City Mall, in Lower Allen Township. The fugitive was arrested without incident. Poole was turned over to the Lower Allen Township Police Department for processing. He was arraigned as a fugitive-from-justice, and is currently awaiting extradition back to Texas.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “This fugitive, charged with crimes against a young child, was a priority to the Marshals Service. While he was on the run, there could be no justice for the young victim. It is my sincere hope that, by taking this fugitive off the street, some measure of comfort will be realized.”
U.S. Marshals were assisted in this investigation by personnel from the Lower Paxton Township Police Department and Dauphin County Adult Probation and Parole. These agencies are participating members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additional assistance was provided by the Swatara Township and the Lower Allen Township Police Departments.
