Firefighters spent Monday night into Tuesday morning, fighting flames at a home on Sticks Road, in Glen Rock. They were focused on a search for a woman who was found beneath the rubble.
Around 8:30 Monday night, neighbors along Sticks Road, in Glen Rock, heard a number of explosions coming from a home that’s now nothing more than a foundation.
Glen Rock assistant fire chief, Ron McCullough says, “We were told there’s possibly a body and so you have to go through everything until you find it.”
McCullough says manpower from around York County searched the single family home until they found a woman who was unaccounted for.
McCullough says, “It took a while, the whole structure was collapsed down on top of the body.”
McCullough says the woman had a propane delivery Monday afternoon to heat her home. Although it’s not confirmed, McCullough says it’s very possible a propane leak could have caused a major explosion.
McCullough says, “It’s hazardous gas and when it builds up, it will blow.”
Pennsylvania State police and fire marshals are investigation the cause of the fire.
