CWD Found in More PA Deer

Andrew M. Klinefelter, 26, of Gettysburg, was initially charged with possessing multiple deer over the limit or out of season in 2011. He also was charged with the unlawful possession of deer or deer parts, a small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

WCO Darren David, who filed the charges stated, “A great deal of work went into this case, with a great deal of assistance from WCOs Greg Graham and Kevin Anderson.”

The investigation began with a tip that led officers to Klinefelter’s home on Christmas Eve in 2011. A search warrant was later served and evidence collected was sent to the Northeast Wildlife DNA Lab at East Stroudsburg University. DNA collected at the scene was part of the evidence that was submitted.

After a yearlong investigation, it was determined charges would be filed regarding 11 deer.

Under Klinefelter’s plea agreement, he entered guilty pleas to two of the deer charges and one of the drug charges. He received fines and penalties totaling more than $6,800, plus an 24-month probationary sentence.
