You may have noticed more motorcycles on the road than usual in York County, and that’s because thousands of bikers are attending the White Rose Thunder at the York Fairgrounds.

Friday, the festivities were off to a high-flying start, as motorcycle stuntmen wowed the early crowds.

Stunt shows are just one of the many attractions.

“We have everything from reptiles, to hot rod cars to hot, souped up motorcycles,” said organizer Larry Racey.

The vendors, competitions and concerts attract motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country.

“It’s something different. There’s a lot going on, it’s good way to get an interest into bikes,” said Molly Carbon of Bellingham, MA. “There’s a bunch of different things and it’s pretty cool and a lot of fun.”

Organizers hope to attract as many as 25,000 people over the four-day event, which kicked off Thursday.

Attendees are boosting not only the rally itself, but also the local economy.

“My bike right now is at Laugerman’s Harley Davidson getting about $600 worth of lights put on it, because we saw them and they were working there,” said Rick Chontosh of Rochester, NY. “If we wouldn’t have come to this, we wouldn’t have saw them.”

White Rose Thunder runs through Sunday. A day pass is $15 on Saturday, $10 on Sunday. Kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
