Katie Kyros: The City of York began its budget hearings for the proposed 2014 city budget. Monday’s public hearing brought a first look at the public works proposed budgets.
Thomas Landis is superintendent for the Departments of Parks and Recreation, as well as Sewer Maintenance. He says Parks is normally the hardest-hit when the budget team needs to make cuts, but expects this year’s proposal to be accepted.
“The mayor has sent out an email to all of us saying we’re not raising taxes and to hold the line,” says Landis.
The budget team will continue to review the proposed budgets all week. The hearings are open to the public. In November, the proposed budget, with the mayor’s changes, will go to the City Council.
