Katie Kyros: After a benches-clearing brawl between players of Steelton-Highspire and Susquenita football teams that suspended last Friday night’s game, the Mid-Penn Conference has now ruled the game a double forfeit.
The coaches of the two teams met Monday morning at East Pennsboro Middle School in Enola, but they refused to comment. The Mid-Penn executive director says they must submit plans of action tomorrow, detailing how they’ll prevent another situation like this.
Mid-Penn says they don’t yet have the official list of players ejected from the game.
“The fracas took about 22 seconds from beginning to end,” says executive director Alfred Isopi. “And in action of a football game, yes there were individuals that shouldn’t have been on the field, but those things occurred.”
Six Steel-High players and and three Susquenita High School players are also ineligible for this Friday’s games.
