The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Program (A.L.E.R.R.T.) and Springettsbury Township Police Chief Thomas Hyers hosted a police tactical training presentation today at Edgar Fahs Middle School in York.
York and Lancaster officers are receiving critical response training and are preparing for a full scale “active shooter” exercise to be held at Central York High School this Friday.
The public is invited to observe Friday’s training. Anyone planning to attend Friday’s exercise must submit their name and email address to firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure they are on the “Approved Observer” list. Due to security concerns with an exercise of this size and scope, no one will be permitted onto the exercise site without prior arrival from this office.
There will be restricted access (only school facility and employees, students, parents dropping off students, drill participants and observers) to the school beginning at 6:00am. There will be a drill and safety briefing from 7:15am to 7:45am in the auditorium. Access to the school grounds, except for emergencies, will be completely shut down from 7:50am until approximately 11:00am.
