A driver escaped serious injury when a train collided with his truck in York County on Tuesday. It happened around 9:50 a.m. at the intersection of Route 116 and Ambau Road in North Codorus Township.
According to police reports, John Brenneman, of Spring Grove, failed to slow down as he approached the rail crossing on Ambau Road–thinking he could beat the train. At the last second–Brenneman realized he wasn’t going to make it and slammed on the brakes.
Police say the front of Brenneman’s truck was clipped by the train as it passed.
Brenneman was not injured in the crash and his truck sustained moderate damage.
Police remind motorists to use caution when crossing railroad tracks, especially at crossings without mechanical gates or flashing lights.
