Fire broke out just before 5 pm at an apartment building along the 1400 block of Conewago Avenue in Newberry Township. A resident alerted other residents in the 4 unit building to the fire. It took about an hour to bring under control. York Haven Fire Chief says rising flood water from Conewago Creek just behind the building hampered efforts to control the fire. Two units in the four unit building were gutted by flames. There is no damage estimate. No one was injured. The Red Cross is providing emergency shelter to 4 adult residents left homeless by the fire.
