Emergency crews respond to a natural gas line break in Lancaster County. It happened shortly after 4 o’clock Monday afternoon at the intersection of Cunard and Steepbank Roads in West Lampeter Township. A UGI spokesman says construction workers breaking ground for new water pipes along the road ruptured the line.
UGI in response shut off the end of the gas main supplying the line. When the water pipe installation is completed, UGI will repair the break in the gas line. The line is earmarked for a new phase in a nearby development so no current UGI customers were affected by the break.
