In Harrisburg, the federal building hosted a few extra visitors on its front steps as people protested the government shutdown.
They called upon U.S. Senator Pat Toomey to end the shutdown immediately.
The event organizer Mary Schwanger said, “so important that we reopen the government because as this goes on more and more things are affected… more and more government services are affected”
Toomey originally joined Republican colleagues and voted against a bill to keep the government funded over objections to the Affordable Care Act.
